About The Event
Welcome to the 2023 'Trail Running - From 5KM to 25KM' Sessions.
This unique training experience includes both virtual and 'in-person' sessions.
In total the sign-up includes 7 sessions - 3 Virtual sessions which you can join (or which will be emailed to you if you cannot attend that session) and 4 'in person' sessions that will all take place in Epping Forest on Friday Mornings.
There will be a small number of places available due to the 'in person' opportunity.
Your Coaches will be from Camino Ultra & Hackney Trainer - coaches will all be Leaders in Run Fitness qualified as well as experienced Trail Runners.
In October Camino will be hosting a 25KM event in Epping Forest. So natutally this training package would suit anyone signed-up or interested in this race distance. However you only need to be at ParkRun level to take part. No running will be longer than 5KM and there will be plenty of opportunities to stop and rest.
This is a skills and knowledge based training - so as long as you have a pair of trainers and want to learn more about trails then you are a perfect fit for this.
Below is a break down of the subjects that we will be covering: Trails & Kit (virtual) What's all this trail kit about? Head torches, hydration packs, trail shoes, poles, and more...what and why do we need it to 'take on' the Trails. Navigation (virtual) We will talk through how the course is marked out on the day and how important it is to have the route available on a device. This session will show you, How to get the GPX on your watch / phone and what to look for out on course to stay on course. Basic Navigation skills followed up at forest session. Race Tactics / Nutrition (virtual) What's my race day plan? Just to finish, smash a pb, enjoy being on the Trails and take it all in.. whatever the aim let's plan to make it a reality. Are you setting a pace? We can show you how to use your watch to maintain that pace. How much fuel do you need and how often? What should you eat the night before? What's the recovery plan after the race? Hills Up & Down (in da forest) Whether you love em or hate them we will get you tackling them in style. Looking at posture, how to conserve engery powering uphill and using gravity to aid downhill. Breathwork/ Mindful Running (in da forest) What happens when we focus on our breathing. We will guide you through some Breath works drills and take you on a journey of mindful and grateful running amongst the trees. Navigation (in da forest) Can you follow the GPX A fun treasure hunt to test your skills. Mental Mantras (in da forest) It's the day before the race, hang on what's that niggles in my knee? Oh no why can't I get a good nights sleep? I think I'm getting the flu or maybe it's covid? The tricks your mind will play on you and how to silence the voices. Goving you The Mantras to get you through. This will also give you the opportunity to scout out race day conditions and your route to the startline.
Trail Running - From 5KM to 25
This ticket includes a series of virtual 1 hour sessions which will be hosted on Tuesday evenings in July and then a series of in-person trainings in Epping Forest - hosted on Friday mornings in Epping. You sign-up for the package and can do as many or as few as you like. Priced at £9 per session for 7 sessions = £63
